I didn’t really remember how I met her. Well, we were classmate on our first grade in senior high school for sure, but I forgot how we knew each other for first time.
I felt a little bit intimidated when I enrolled the school, since it was (and is) the best public high school in Jakarta. In fact, one of the best public high school in Indonesia. Everyone seemed so serious, so smart, so well educated. I realized that most of them came from non-financial-problem family background, or you could simply call them wealthy.
The situation had taken my confidence away. And then I met her. This person seemed to be so confident, so humble, so smart, so…. down to earth.
I really liked her, she was a very good person. She never looked down on others, always looked happy even when she was very mad or sad. She was so wise, mature, a great listener, appreciative, affectionate, caring, kind-hearted. She was also self driven, diligent, she would do anything to get what she wanted.
Even when we weren’t in the same class anymore in second and third grade (she was always in the excellent class), we were still bestfriend. We lived in the different boarding house nearby the school. We shared our laughs, our tears, stories, food (well, in this case, she shared her food more than I did since I had less pocket money =D)…. everything.
That was 10 years ago.
And now… here we are… reaching for our own dreams. But still.. bestfriend. We have been through all the ups and downs, and all those things only made our friendship stronger than ever.
Happy birthday my dearest friend. Hope Allah will guide you in your every step, give you His bless on every of your colorful journey, take a good care of you and your family, give you the happiness, the strength, the patience, the wisdom, so you can find the real meaning of your life.
Have a blast years ahead!!
To Elizabeth Yasmine.. For being my strength when I was weak, my voice when I couldn’t speak, my eyes when I couldn’t see, seeing the best there was in me, lifting me up when I couldn’t reach.
You gave me faith ‘coz you believed.
*speechless*
